Our hospital was instituted in July, 1957. Its former name was “Taiwan Provincial Yung Kang Veterans Hospital.” At the inception of institution, it was left in Taiwan Provincial Department of Public Health's trust and then it was transferred to be subordinated to Veterans Affairs Commission, Executive Yuan, R.O.C in 1958. It's been almost forty six years from the institution of the hospital to the present. The purpose of the institution of the hospital is to provide the veterans in Tainan area with medical care and sanitary health care service. At the inception of institution, we had only three departments: medical, surgical and nursing. Our primary mission is to take in the veteran patients who were suffered from chronic disease. In 1990, our hospital was extended to be a general one. We not only provided the veterans and their families with medical service of acute severe and chronic diseases, but also dealt with the public's diagnosis and treatment affairs. In the same year our hospital was accepted in the second periodic reconstructed project of national medical treatment network by the Department of health (DOH), Executive Yuan. During the reconstruction, we joined the ranks of NHI-contracted medical care institutions in 1995; meanwhile, our serving objects were extended all over the public. The reconstruction was accomplished in 1997, and we set up eight hundred Acute and chronic beds. Owing to our joint efforts, our hospital can reach to the present-day scale.
