The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) of Yongkang Veterans Hospital has its beginning in the 1990’s and has remained a comprehensive health care provider in Tainan. Our professional team workers compose of three doctors, three physical therapists, two physical therapy assistant, two occupational therapist,and one staff. We offer quality medical care and rehabilitation for patients with various disabilities. Over the past twenty years, we have developed treatment programs in specialties such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal, return to work,chronic pain, and sports injury. We also provide consultation and diagnostic services with a variety of technologic examinations.Each patient here is evaluated by a physatrist,who then woks with the referring physician and the rehabilitation team to design and implement individualized plan of care.The evaluation includes functional assessment,evaluation for adaptive equipment,contrcture prevention,skin management,bowel/bladder education and training,and prognosis of ultimate outcome. With the participation of the patients and their family, our physicians and therapists work as a team to assist those living with disabilities to achieve functional independence and a better quality of life.

Attending Physicians: Attending Dr. Jang Rong-Fong
The physical therapy serves patients by physical evaluations, treatments and education. According to the physical therapy, we can find the symptom and sign that disturb our body with the pain, numbness, soreness, parethesia, muscle weakness, joint stiffness, motor control dysfunction, and ADL limitation. Further we solve them, improve the dysfunction, and prevent them from happening again. The subjects we provide orthopedic physical therapy for people with sports injury, amputee, frozen shoulder, scolosis, osteoarthritis, and others after surgery. The neurological physical therapy serves patient such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral vessel accident, peripheral neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease, and others like vestibular dysfunction etc.Our physical therapists treat patients with the modality, manual therapy and exercise therapy. We also provide patient home programs, and consultant service to help the patients change their ADL habit and improve their quality of life.
The Occupational Therapy Service
Occupational therapy in our division provides designed purposeful activities for the neurological patient. The occupational therapist designs personal-made functional activities for every patient according to the occupational evaluations. With these activities, the patients can regain their functional capacity deprived from their disease. They can also obtain other methods to substitute their lost function. Via the occupational treatment, we expect the patients to reduce their dysfunction and reaccommodate themselves to the family and the society. The neurological occupational therapy serves patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral vessel accident; peripheral neuropathy, other degenerative disease and others like whom need orthosis etc.
